HCAC Places Seven on All-Mideast Region Squad All-Region Teams (click here)

GREENWOOD, IN –Manchester College's Bryce Murphy (Ossian, Ind./Norwell) has been named First Team All-Mideast Region by in results released this morning.

Murphy, a junior pitcher and outfielder for the Spartans, earned first team honors after hitting .332 with 41 runs, 63 hits, seven doubles, two home runs, and 37 RBI.  The junior also posted an 8-2 record on the mound for the black and gold with a 3.20 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 70.1 innings of work.  Murphy was named First Team All-HCAC this spring.

Hanover College's Matt Brooks (Goodlettsville, Tenn./John Paul II) and Manchester's Jordan Nieman (Michigan City, Ind./H.S.) earned a selection to the All-Mideast Region Second Team.  Brooks was also honored as the Mideast Region Rookie of the Year for his efforts this spring.

Franklin College's Jesse Wilson (Seymour, Ind./H.S.) and Nathan Ellis (Plainfield, Ind./H.S.), Manchester's Corey Marchant (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger), and Rose-Hulman's Hank Akard (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis)  have been named to the All-Mideast Region Third Team.

Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools.

The 2012 season is the first season these have been awarded with 713 players being nominated.
