INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and its 10 institutions will be celebrating the National Collegiate Athletics Association's annual Division III Week. The 2019 NCAA Division III Week begins on April 1 and will conclude on April 7.
Division III Week is a positive opportunity for all individuals associated with a Division III institution to observe and celebrate the impact that athletics and student-athletes have on campus and in the surrounding community. During the week, every Division III school and conference office is encouraged to conduct an outreach activity that falls into one of three categories: academic accomplishment; athletic experience; or leadership/community service/campus involvement.
On Monday and Tuesday of DIII Week, the institutions of the HCAC will partake in activities on their campuses that highlight mental health awareness and personal well being. Other contributions to DIII Week will be posted on social media, featuring student-athletes outlining #whyd3 and what makes them more than an athlete.
The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference will be hosting a conference-wide Day of Giving on Wednesday, April 3 in celebration of Division III Week. Each institution will raise money for a charity of their choice on Wednesday. The HCAC school that raises the most funds will be crowned champion and will receive the first-ever Day of Giving traveling trophy.

Later this week, the HCAC in partnership with Special Olympics, will host the fifth-annual Unified Sports Bowling Championship, Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m., hosted at Royal Pin Woodland in Indianapolis, Ind. During the event, over 115 athletes from Special Olympics chapters in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky and student-athletes from HCAC member institutions will team up in an effort to bring home the HCAC/Special Olympics Unified Bowling Championship.
